Kyoto-based sound artist / percussionist / Array Mbira player kita kouhei's 11th solo album "Idealism II" has been released!

“An original experimental ambient world that resonates with nature”

Kita Kouhei's 11th album. His trademark ArrayMbira, which plays a tone like water, children's glocken, a somewhat comical and warm kalimba, and an analogue with a cloudy texture. Synths, old tape noise, field recordings, etc., layer comfortably on top of each other.
In addition, this time, the focus is on the "intervals" of the sound space, making the most of the atmosphere where you can enjoy the attenuation and reverberation of the sound, expressing an experimental original ambient world that fuses electronics and acoustic sound.

kita kouhei Profile:

Born in 1976, a musician, percussionist, and Array Mbira player living in Kyoto. An artist who creates a unique sound landscape that fuses live musical instruments and electronic music by making full use of the piano that he has been familiar with since childhood, the aesthetic sensibility of paintings that he has always spent with, and the skills of professional percussionists. He also works on commercials, documentary programs, avant-garde stage performances and music for art events.


■ 『『自然と共鳴する独創的な実験的アンビエントの世界。』

前作『Idealism』の続編となる、北航平の11枚目のアルバム。
今回も前作に引き続き、音の「間」と余韻を楽しむ空気感を最大限に生かしつつ、自然と共鳴する独創的な実験的アンビエントの世界を構築している。

トレードマークとなっている水のような音色を奏でるアレイムビラをはじめ、子ども用のグロッケン、どこかコミカルで温かみを感じるカリンバ、曇った質感を纏うアナログシンセ、古いテープノイズ、水の音や鳥の声、日常の風景などを切り取ったフィールドレコーディングが心地良く重なるサウンド。


■ 北航平プロフィール

京都市在住の音楽家、打楽器奏者、アレイムビラ奏者、猫廃人。

幼少の頃よりピアノと絵を始める。17歳でドラムを始め、35歳までプロの打楽器奏者として活動。その後サウンドアーティストに転向、39歳でなぜか世界15カ国以上でCDが発売されるという不思議なデビューを果たす。これまでに全11枚のアルバムをリリース。

その他、3人の音楽家（北航平・高山奈帆子・ミムラシンゴ）によるユニットcoconoeでは、高山奈帆子の神秘的なボーカルやコーラスをフィーチャーした、実験的でジャズテイストも感じる「歌ものアンビエントサウンド」を聴かせる。これまでに2枚のアルバムをリリース。

自然音やノイズを用いて曇ったアンビエントサウンド、様々な打楽器や生活音を用いた不規則なリズム、少し暗く少し美しく少し切ない感情表現などを融合した、どこか抽象画のような音風景が特徴。

また、ドラマやCM・ドキュメンタリー番組、舞台やアートイベントなどの音楽も手掛け、第51 回ギャラクシー賞CM部門選奨受賞。

現在、創作活動とそれを邪魔するかわいい猫との共存を模索中。
